The Zoning Commission’s regularly scheduled meetings are on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Sharon Township Administration Building.
The Board of Zoning Appeals’ regularly scheduled meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Sharon Township Administration Building.
The meeting times are scheduled to change as called by the Chairperson of each board.
Many residents have expressed concern about the future of Sharon Township. The concerns appeared to focus on the fear that residential development threatens to modify the rural character of the township as to potentially destroy the very feature which makes Sharon Township so appealing. Zoning, according to the Ohio Revised Code, regulates for the health, safety and welfare of the community. While zoning is not a comprehensive solution to land use issues, it can be influential.
The Sharon Township’s Zoning Code is 50 years old. As the township has grown, many changes have been made to the regulations. It was time to review the code to determine if major changes are needed to preserve our township for the future. Your Zoning Commission has studied ways other townships have handled growth, met with zoning experts, and reviewed our comprehensive plan. Before considering substantially changing the zoning code, the following survey was mailed to all registered voters in the township.
